Fukushima Nuclear Disaster

November 19, 2013

It has been over two and a half years since the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster. The exact cause of the disaster is still under investigation. It appears to have been caused by the tremendous earthquake that day. However, the operator of the nuclear plant, Tokyo Power Company (TEPCO), says that it was the result of the tsunami. Contributing causes could be poor engineering, poor planning, greedy management, and even hubris. Of course, there are many negative effects. Nuclear power, with its benefits and negative effects, is an important issue for all Koreans.

Students: Write a paragraph in which you focus on a cause (either the main cause or a contributing cause) of the Fukushima disaster or an effect of it. Additionlly, you could argue for or against nuclear power. If possible, try to write something that other students have not written about.

Fukushima nuclear disaster could be a real disaster throughout the globe including Korea. Although there is no exactly reported damage by leaked radioactivity, for Japanese in Fukushima facing the worst event, secondary damage will be unavoidable. I think that another Fukushima nuclear disaster may happen again in the long term. because global warming is becoming a real problem, tsunami such as Fukushima nuclear disaster can happen over and over. According to experts, the Hamaoka nuclear power plant was built in an area that is ripe for a massive earthquake similar to the one that destroyed the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant. Besides, according to the professor Ishibashi, the Hamaoka plant is located above active fault in which can cause Tokai earthquake. He also said that ground might rise from 1 to 2 meter regardless of a massive tsunami and intense sway. Truly, Hamaoka is the most dangerous plant in the world. Japanese government should take measure, if they want to prevent another Fukushima accident.

These days, Fukushima nuclear disaster came to the fore as a matter of life or death of a global. At first, Japanese is busy to hide that fact to secure national competitiveness. However, as the disaster became more serious, this irresponsible countermeasure is not accepted anymore. First, what we have to do is to find the main cause of the Fukushima disaster. In fact, it is due to the tsunami source. So far, no more waves have destructed than Tsuunami. Although, the planet have endured the earthquake and flooding, the disaster occurred because the electricity supply has been cut off at the mains. For these reason, a government of America would lend the electricity supply, but the arrogant Japanese refused this suggestion as they solved the problem by themselves. Therefore, If Japanese had accepted the suggestion, the disaster would not occurred. Also, what people make more furious is Japanese lied to all over the world that the situation gotten better. In conclusion, this serious nuclear disaster of Fukushima was casued by a mechanical defects and Japanese concealment of that.

In 21th century, the worst disaster is the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster. The plant operator, TEPCO, said that there was a low possibility of major radiation. And they argued the cause of accident was just a big earthquake. That is absolute and arrant nonsense. The cause of accident is the poor planning and greedy management. With nuclear power, there is always the fear that there will be an escape of harmful radiation I agree the using of nuclear power. But we have to be careful when we use nuclear energy. It is difficult to manage. In order to preventing like the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster, we must manage the system of nuclear energy.

These days, people all over the world confront the danger of Fukushima disaster. After the Fukushima disaster occurs, there are two biggest negative effects from releasing of radioactive material. First, the cancer incidence data of Fukushima’s local resident get increased. Local resident are afraid of potential acute and long-term health effects. Next, it causes the environment pollution and mutation of living things. Now in Japan, there have already existed a lot of mutation things, because of radioactive material. Thus, ecosystem is destroyed and many living things become extinct. However, I think nuclear power is vital energy source to our lives. Many countries depend on a nuclear power so much. Nuclear energy occupies 24.8% of Korea energy source. Thus, we can’t abandon the nuclear power because of its danger. Instead of abandonment, we should devise a method which controls the nuclear power plant safely. Therefore, when we build a nuclear power plant, we should seriously consider of topography and the ground of area where a plant will be constructed.

Fukushima nuclear disaster is the terrible accident caused by many factors.
The main cause seems natural disaster. At first, there was a devastating earthquake near the Fukushima nuclear power plant. And several nuclear power plants are influenced indirectly from the earthquake. And machines recognized attacks and stopped machine driving automatically
However, about 50minutes after the earthquake, tsunami occurred. Then, big waves swept near the nuclear power plants. So nuclear power plants were inundated and all the power off. And it made impossible the cooling system work. Because of this, it was impossible to put in coolant .So after a while , there was hydrogen explosion and finally the radioactivity was flew out.
Cleary, the earth quake wasn’t the direct cause of this disaster. Earthquake made tsunami , tsunami made all the power off and the most important cooling system couldn’t work. So finally the radioactivity was flew out.
And we always have to try to make provision not to make bad disaster.

In 2011, Fukushima Nuclear Disaster was occurred. It was a big disaster since the Chernobyl nuclear accident in 1986, so it is issued until now. Then, why it happened? I think it was occurred by safety supervisors’ carelessness. Nuclear power is so dangerous if it release radiation. So, it must be built strong and managed exhaustive. Of course the disaster’s one of cause is tsunami by the tremendous earthquake. But supervisors’ carelessness is an undeniable fact. To say about nuclear power, I am an opponent. Nuclear power’s merit is economical reason. But if we feel differently, it is uneconomical power because of construction expenses, fuel expenses and disposal expenses. So, I think that developing another power is more safely and more economical.

According to Korean Nuclear Society’s reports, the Fukushima nuclear disaster has been a tragic accident because of an extreme disaster. Until now, it affects not only Japan but also all over the world. Although the situation was an inavoidable disaster, it is just a pretext for evading Japanese responsibility. Tsunami and earthquake occur frequently in Japan. If they hope to develop and research nuclear power, they had to perfectly prepare for the actual disaster. Recently, mutant organisms are emerging and increasing in Japan. It is a very dangerous phenomenon. Nobody can imagine the range of impacts of Fukusima nuclear disaster. Now, we are just able to find proper measures. For these reasons, developing the nuclear power is an issue to rethink.

Do you know what happened on 26th April 1986? It’s when Chernobyl disaster happened. It is recorded as the most catastrophic nuclear accident happened since the discovery of atoms. And on 11 March 2011, the second largest nuclear disaster occurred; it is the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster. According to many studies, it initiated by the tsunami and earthquake. The tsunami destroyed a coolant, and it caused nuclear meltdown. It is originally caused by natural disasters, but it was worsened by man-made disasters. Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) maneuvered inappropriately. For instance, though USA suggested immediate supply of coolant after the loss-of-coolant, they didn’t accept it. This kind of their hamartia now caused numerous worldwide concerns. Its cause was natural disaster, but man-made disasters made the situation seriously. Many Japanese drink imported water, foods from other regions and etc. Furthermore, people all around the world are now taking more concerns when choosing products from Japan or eating foods. It is so sad that this nuclear disaster could be prevented if dealt properly.

Though two years have passed since Fucushima nuclear disaster, people around the world are still worrying about the accident. The disaster itself was tremendous, however, the consequent effect are what we really should be acknowledged. First, the incidence of thyroid cancer has dramatically risen to people who live around the spot. The radio activity was spilled and people are directly affected in two years. In addition, mutations of plant and animal has been reported. Secondly, the city where nuclear power plant was became the ghost town. Access to the city is strictly restricted and around the town. Dead bodies of animal are easily found and this pitiable scene shows the terror of the catastrophe. Lastly, nuclear polluted water are constantly is leaking to the sea. This is another big problem since the sea is connected all around the world. Clearly, there are so many negative effects of 2011 Fucushima nuclear disaster. We have to realize the seriouness of the probelm and be more prepared for these unexpected events.

Not only for Japanese, but also for people all around the world, March 11th of 2011 was a disastrous day. Fukushima Nuclear Disaster happened. The disaster happened for complex reasons, but the crucial reason was because of the natural reason, earthquake. However, some people say that the actual reason was the old internal combustion engine which is human’s effect. Whether the reason of this disaster is caused by only nature or not, it is true that this is a terrible event to everybody in the world. This disaster influenced to many part of society, but two of them are most effective. First, the problem of health is the most important problem. Other problems don’t matter much if the disaster and people’s health have no relationship. Many people dead from this accident. A large number of people have possibility of awful disease like cancer. Also, the disaster have caused environmental problem. Many part of the nature polluted. There is a word like ‘crazy forest’, which is made by Fukushima nuclear disaster. Many endangered species dead from this disaster too. Additionally, I know people worry about the use of nuclear power, because it can be too dangerous like Fukushima nuclear disaster, if it have an accident. However, I think the benefit of using this excess those worries. We can get higher benefits by using them. In sum, there are many other terrible effects by Fukushima nuclear disaster, but the most distinct things are about human’s health, pollution, and economic result. Also, we should get the advantage of nuclear power with more careful use.

Is the Fukushima nuclear accident solely caused by natural disaster? On March 11, 2011, the nuclear accident happened at Fukushima in Japan. The Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) said that this accident caused by the earthquake and tsunami, but in fact it is caused by human error fundamentally. There are some reasons about that. Firstly, TEPCO knew the fact that there is a crack in the wall when they inspected establishment of their nuclear plant, but they concealed that fact for their own interests. Moreover, they also concealed a outbreak of criticality accidents for several decades. Secondly, they built their nuclear plants in low-lying areas without considering natural disasters which often occur in Japan like earthquake and tsunami for financial reasons. Finally, they didn’t believe the tsunami warning with their lackadaisical thought so they didn’t prepare for tsunami. For these reasons, it is true that the Fukushima nuclear accident basically caused by TEPCO. That is, the Fukushima nuclear accident is man-made catastrophe so tsunami just promote occurrence of the nuclear accident. Therefore, I am against nuclear power because the nuclear accident like the Fukushima nuclear accident can happen whenever because of careless and selfish people.

The threat of Fukushima nuclear which is the worst disaster of 21th century does not end. It is still on going. At the time of the disaster, a lot of people died and lost their living foundations. And now, the radioactive substances get through food and the human bodies. The reason why the radioactive substances are dangerous is this substances causes various cancers. In addition, the people who have been exposed to the radiation get serious suffer during their lives. Furthermore, the women who is in a pregnancy perioud have a high risk of giving birth to deformed babies. Also, because of the ocean current, these threats of the nuclear disaster not only are relevant in Japan, but also all over the world. For these negative effects, use of the nuclear power should be limited or under the close regulations.

Recently, there has been lots of news about deformed animal, plant, and even people near the Fukushima. These are the distinctive effects of the disaster, but there are more large number of dangers that are hidden from our view. Vegetables, fishes, and even the products are exposed to radiation which causes genetic deforms, forming cancer in our body but Japan government is hiding the fact and supporting Africans that are in starve and willing to eat any kind of food in order to live no matter they are contaminated with radiation or not. Also, there are sever problem of radioactive waste matter. Wastes are contained in steel drum and buried in a land. However, it is found out that steel drum is only used to carry waste easily, not to block radiation. For these reasons, I think the benefits of the nuclear energy is not bigger than these negative effects and there are still on going effects of it.

There has been a terrible disaster in Fukushima, Japan almost two and a half years ago. It was one of the worst disaster on 21st century and the effect of it was incredibly worldwide. It was Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster. This disaster affect nationally and also internationally for many reasons. First, nuclear disaster lower down the recongnition of Japan for their poor engineering, bad management and not organized conducting. Also, as the bad effect of nuclear power is commomly awared, a lot of visitors are turning their backs. Then, in the same logical connection, marine products of Japan is known to be exposed to nuclear power. So, exportation for the yield of the sea has dramatically decreased. However, these kind of factors not only affect Japan but also Korea. Because of the anxiety of radioactivity exposure, tourist to Korea and sales of fisheries have been shrinked. Clearly, nuclear disaster once happened, it has terrible effect that can damage all over the world. Thus, it is really important to care and manage nuclear plant for safe, and stable living.
