As I think dam is the result of the progress of human activity, I will outline about the reason why I think dam is a creditable achievement. The most noteworthy feature is that dam made it more available to deal with the forces of nature.

Firstly, dam changed our method of react to natural disaster like flood and drought. Dam can control the flow of water. When it floods, dam prevent the inrush of water to downstream. On the other way, in drought period, provides water. This is innovative method to deal with natural disaster in farming community. Secondly, we can also earn alternative energy, hydro electricity from dam. Dam can be treated a destructive facility to environment. However, in long-term views, this energy will finally benefits to protect nature. Finally, it also makes our life more affluent by providing recreation activity such as fishing and boating. Nature is no more just a subject of awe, but to commute and enjoy. Like this, in perspective of human, dam is a brilliant invention.

Building dams requires a lot of cost and time. Many countries have been built dams despite of this stupendous costs because dam has various advantages. First, people can prepare for natural disaster such as floods and drought because dam can regulate water flow. Dam store water when it is flooded and release water when people need water because of drought. That is, water supply of dam is good. Farmers can draw water from the dam and use it for farming and livestock. Second, dam can generate power such as hydroelectric power. Third, dam can be a tourist attraction. People can watch some dams on a cruise boat. To sum up, a dam brings many economic benefits.

Dam is a modern product used as a developed tool created by humans.
In other words, it is now intervening a little in the flow of nature that human beings could not even intervene in the past, and it is helping human life.
First, the dam can control the flow of water. Water always flows from top to bottom, but people can set up a dam between water and water to stop or even flow the water. Through this, dams provide the basis for overcoming natural disasters such as floods and droughts.
Next, the dam can produce hydro electricity. It is a power station that can produce cheap, clean and enormous electricity through water. This allows the generated electricity to be delivered directly to the factory or home in the surrounding area.
Finally, the dam creates another job. The dam can be said to be exactly one lake. Therefore, dams can lead tourism industries such as leisure, and dams will become a sort of sightseeing destination, creating jobs and boosting the local economy.

Building dam is a controversial issue for a long time because it has strong pros and cons. However, i think it is inevitable to build dam in modern society to a certain degree since there are lots of benefits that dam gives to us.
First, we can have lots of water available for use. There are many countries suffering from water shortage now. By building dams, we can store large amount of water and use for various ways such as agriculture, indusry water and even drought.
Second, we can prevent catastrophic flooding. River often flooded when concentrated heavy rains come. Dam can control the flood effectively.
Last, dam can generate hydroelectric power. Hydropower generated 16.6% of the world’s total energy and 70% of all renewable electricity. Moreover, it doesn’t produce direct waste and has a considerably lower output level of greenhouse gasses that fossil fuel powered energy
For these benefits, many people insist that dam is need to be built and plans for building dam continue with high expectaitions in some countries.

Dam construction has several advantages such as water control effect, hydropower generation, convenience facilities, etc. However, there are many problems because it is a facility to shave mountains. First, it damages the surrounding people. Because the fog is always thick around the dam, the lack of sunshine causes problems of farming and the health of the residents. Second, it destroys the ecosystem. Animals living around dams lose their habitat and artificially control the flow of water, which can lead to the disappearance of sandy beaches due to a decrease in the amount of sand deposits. Finally, the cost of dam construction is high. It is expensive to build mountains and to build dams, and it also costs a lot to manage them. The dam has many advantages, but there are many disadvantages.

As other students had mentioned above, building dams has many advantages. However, we should examine what disadvantages of building dams are. After considering both sides of the issue, we could decide better to build dams or not. Thus, I try to organize disadvantages of building dams and details of them.
First, building dams inevitably destroy nature. Some places should be submerged under water and it causes a destruction of the habitat of animals. Second, water contamination could happen at a dam. People and livestock live at the upper region of a dam and because of this contaminants of every kind flow into the dam and sink at the bottom of it. If a dam is old, the possibility of water contamination is higher commoly. The fact that a dam enable people to store water to use, but if the water is not clean enough to use, that benefit is actually meaningless. Lastly, a large-scale dam usually causes a thick fog, which leads to a less amount of sunshine and finally affect agriculture. In addition, the rate of car accident is highest when it is foggy.
These are the disadvantages of building dams and I wonder how other students who are proponents of building dams think about these disadvantages.

I think building dams has more benefits than not doing that. Although this may have problems such as natural environmental pollution and ecosystem destruction, dams bring more and more to our lives. What are the benefits of dams?
Firstly, dams can store rainwater and have a function to regulate water flow as well as secure a large amount of water. It is a well-known fact that Korea is one of the countries lacking water. Environmental groups are replacing various buildings, but supplying dams according to demand is the most fundamental measure for obtaining available water source.
Secondly, it is evident that dams can generate hydro-electricity. We need enough electricity for our lives. However, the amount of electricity produced is limited, and it is ineffective to rely on only nuclear power generation or thermal power generation from petroleum. Hydro-power can not pollute, and help produce more power, the most important resources, in our society. Therefore, we can utilize water power generation through dams.
Finally, dams makes it possible to control natural disasters like flood and drought. Moreover, they can be used for irrigation by farmers. To be specific, the river floods happen frequently in Korea due to heavy rain during summer. In the past, there was a lot of damage to the flooded area. However, when the water is restricted in dam today, we can reduce the damage and use it when we need water.
In conclusion, dams construction is very beneficial for our lives. All things considered, it is my belief that my opinion has been effectively and precisely delivered with the reasons mentioned above. Humans should minimize the damage to the environment, but should be able to use the environment well with the innovative technology.

Constructing dam is a burning issue because it needs a lot of money and it is one of important national enterprises. Although dam has several disadvantages, dam have many benefits. First, people can prepare natural disasters like drought and flood because dam can store a lot of water during duration of precipitation and release water whenever people need during drought. Moreover, the large amount of water can be used for extinguishing a big fire like forest fire. Also, we can use dam for water power generation. For example, Korea has been using Soyang river dam and Paldang river dam for hydro- electricity power. Lastly, dam also can be used for tourist attraction. Lots of water in dams enables to use the dam for fishing and cruiser tour.

-What are the benefits of dam?

Dam is a barrier that stops or restricts the flow of water or underground streams. In Korea, there are many dams that provide some advantages to people. First, dam can provide hydropower. hydropower is often used in generating electricity. Second, Dam can store tons of waters by itself. Dam will distribute stored water to other locations where occured natural disaster such as drought, and flood. Lastly, dam provide beautiful scenery. People usually take a bike and sometimes go walk around dams.

There are three main benefits of dams. Firstly, human can control of the inflow or outflow of water. Korea’s climate in the summer is usually so unpredictable that much of areas were submerged because of heavy summer rain. For this reason, it was necessary for people who live in mountainous area to regulate the water floor by building dams. Eventually, the dams keep water when it rains heavily and provide water for agriculture when severe droughts affected it. Secondly, dams can generate hydroelectric power. As technology has been developed, these newest dams are built at the source of a river not only to keep water but to generate energy. Finally, dams can be used as recreation grounds for citizens. For example, Paldang dam is one of the most famous fishing spots in Korea so that many fishermen have visited there for a long time. In conclusion, building dams can be advantageous

    Dams disadvantages are,
    First, environmental destruction.
If organisms live in areas where the dam is to be built, they all lose their homes.
Second, a lot of mist in the air.
Because it widens the area of water and makes it more susceptible to water vapor.
So the amount of sunlight gets less sunlight,
it is also harmful to farmers.
    Third, smog is appeared.
If there is a big city or industrial complex,
there is a mix of air pollutants combined with air pollutants.
    Then, the respiratory organs increase.

The dam has the benefit of regulating and storing water. But the dam also has disadvantage. First, it costs a lot of money to build. This is a tax burden on citizens, so citizens often oppose it. Second, building of dam destroys forests. Usually dams need large amounts of land and cut mountains for this purpose. Therefore, the inhabitat lose their home. Finally, the citizens lose town. This is because the area surrounding the dam is damaged and submerged in water to build dams. As a result, there are many drawbacks to building a dam, so lots of planning and discussion are needed.

Building dams has more benefits than disadvantages. Although it brings pros and cons both, humans get diverse advantages from dams.
At first, dam stores water, which gives smooth supply for people who need it. For example, when drought occurs, crops can not grow because water is essential thing for growth of plants. On the condition dam has enough water to supply for agricultural worker, the damage of products would be prevented.
Also, dam blocks people from flood harm. As storing water in dam that has large rooms, it prevent overflow of water. In the case of Korea, there is large rainfall density in the summer while there is few rainfall in the winter. So during summer day, Korea needs to space for confine rainfalls which damage whole country. Therefore unless there are no dams, lots of troubles would happen.
In addition, waterfall in dams generates hydro power. It is kind of natural energy that is not harmful to environments and humans.
Even though dam could destroy habitats of human and animals, and even heritages, to protect them from dangerous floods is worth to do it.
In the conclusion, dam should be constructed if needed but not abuse it in the purpose of individual’s economic or political desire.

I will speak some disadvantages of Dams. They are extremely expensive to build and music be built to a very high standard. The high cost of dam construction means that they must operate for many decades to become profitable. Furthermore at the same time, they cost lots of money including displacement of habitants and destruction of natural environments. Provided that they need any amount of ground to built their huge construction, people living in villages and towns in the ground that are in the valley to be flooded, must move out. Worsen, people are forcibly removed so that hydro-powers chems can go ahead without proper compensations.

And also, if the dam is built in blocking the progress of a river in neighboring countries, then it means that the water supply from the same river in the following country is out of their control. This can lead to serious problems between neighbour countries.

The dam is always controversial since it is beneficial but has significant disadvantages. However, the reason why the dam is still being built and used is that it is useful anyway. There are many benefits of dam and the main two things are energy generation and regulation of water. The first one is energy generaion. Hydroelectricity takes high percentage in energy supply, which means dam helps a lot in our daily life. The other is regulation of water. Whenever there is draught or flood, dam can be great help for water storage and usage.

There are many advantages of dams. First, the most important point of dam is control the water supplyment. Dam controls water efficiently by keeping or releasing water. Through this, agriculture can grow crops well. Without dam, we can suffer difficulty to cope with heavy rain or serious drought.
In addition, we can produce hypro-power through dam. Hydro-power is energy which uses potential energy of water. Also, hydro-power is eco friendly energy, so it can be helpful to environment comparing with other fossil energy.
Finally, Dams can be great tourist attraction. For example, many major dams like Soyangriver or Choongju run a sightseeing ship to see the scenery. It can help boost the regional economy.
In summary, through Dams, not only we can use water more efficiently, and reduce waste but also generate natural energy. Of course, there are some problems building dam. However, the continuous advantages are bigger and disdavantages.

Although some environment organizations are opposed to dam, dams have been constructed for the benefit of many. dam has a lot of benefit for people. I will explain the advantages of dam.
First, the purpose of dam is using water when it is necessary by storing water. It prevents disasters such as flood, drought. Because dam controls the flow of water and stores water. Some countries experience water storage. By building dams, we can solve the problem of water storages. Eventually, dam adjusts balance of water supply. In addition, It is also used for water for industrial use, agricultural irrigation. Second, dam offers electric power and generate hydroelectric power. We need eco-friendly energy because fossil fuels that we use are limited and pollute the air. This hydroelectric power is important to develop technologies. Lastly, These dams create local jobs including service work. This employment makes economic effect.
Therefore, dam is needed to build because of many advantages for people. We should consider the construction of dam without environment destruction.

In terms of economic aspects, dam construction has many shortcomings, but the benefits are much greater. There are some reasons for building a dam with a lot of construction costs.

Firstly, the dam helps to prevent floods and droughts by controlling the amount of water. The dam regulates the flow of water by storing rainwater as much as possible when the floods occur and releasing the water when the droughts occur. The effective adjustment of water helps to minimize economic losses due to such natural disasters in farmers’ farming.

Also, we can generate hydroelectric power through the water of the dam. It takes the way of producing electricity with kinetic energy generated by regulating the amount of water. Hydro energy is more cleaner than any energy and has no significant side effects such as the problem of waste disposal of nuclear power generation. Hydropower can be an alternative to our country, which desperately needs other energy resources to replace nuclear power.

Finally, the construction of a dam usually progresses on a large scale in the medium to longer term and contributes to lots of job creation. All human resources related in a dam construction, including lots of experts in building and water-related industries, must be needed. As a result, the building of a dam can contribute to vitalizing the economy of the nation.

In conclusion, dam construction will offer a lot more economic opportunities to enrich our lives because its economic usefulnesses are much greater than its side effects.

Builing dams usually bring more disadvantage compared with not buling it.
First, many advocators of building dam says that “they can prevent flooding”. However, it is hard to regulate the quantity of rainfall and its remains. In Japan, statistics show that thousands of dams frequently failed to administor flooding. Just few of them succeeded.
Second, people support builing of dams with the reason of making electricity power. We cannot deny the fact that the enegy dams made benefits human life. But the scientists concern, piled earth and sand in the bottom of dam threaten its safety limit.
Finally, the construction of dams harm environment. Nowadays, human are sufferd from natural disasters. When builing a dam, eco-system near the dam destroys. Destruction of forest cause unbalance in nature. So, builing dam is not a ultimate solution to solve problem of flooding.
In conclusion, constructing dam cannot benefit human life. Rather, they bring disadvantage in long-term perspective.
